Toni McDowell - Australian artist

Toni McDowell's artworks have a strong design element, influenced by her career in the graphic arts industry. She draws on the experience of living in both inner-city Sydney and rural Tasmania to produce paintings that reflect these different worlds.
Colour is often heightened to express a mood and she is fascinated by the transforming effects of light on land, water and the built environment.
Toni was one of ten finalists in the city of Sydney exhibition, City of Villages, held in July 2006. Her painting From the Balcony was also displayed throughout the city as a large illuminated poster.
She is currently studying etching and has completed several courses at the National Art School. Her works have been shown in group exhibitions in Sydney, Tasmania and the Hunter Valley.
